The Province of Varese is characterised by being able to offer cultural and natural facets, authentic "precious assets to be lived". Countless are the artistic locations in which to discover a serene lakeside walk, a Romanic bell tower, a pastoral path or an original museum: from CASTIGLIONE OLONA, a Renaissance corner unique to Lombardy, one can trace the Longobard vestiges of the Castrum Sibrium of CASTELSEPRIO or within the CAIRATE LONGOBARD MONASTERY.

One can discover the precious frescoes in Gemonio's Romanic churches, in the SANTA CATERINA DEL SASSO, hermitage, in the austere BORROMEO FORTRESS IN ANGERA or in Casalzuigno's VILLA DELLA PORTA BOZZOLO in its green setting, or in Ganna's Benedictine abbey of SAN GEMOLO.

The tourist centres are not only to be found among the LAKES and the mountains. In Varese, the conceptual art and the XVIII century harmony merge in the VILLA MENAFOGLIO LITTA PANZA in Biumo, the hosanna of faith echoes in the monumental complex of ARSAGO SEPRIO and in the cupola of the Sanctuary in Saronno. Other "treasures" are lived with the liberty style architecture of the early XX century, , expressed in such a masterly fashion by the famed Poretti brewery in Induno Olona, by the Palace Hôtel in Varese and by the former Grand Hôtel Campo dei Fiori.

Several cultural tourist itineraries are therefore proposed in order to continue promoting the emotion that gripped those illustrious travellers, from Samuel Butler to Guido Piovene, from Stendhal to Guttuso and Chiara, to name but a few, that filled and coloured pages and canvasses with our province's natural beauty.
