The territory of the province of Varese is distinguished by a large number of beautiful VALLEYS with magnificent viewing points on the surrounding LAKES and mountains. These are places to be explored and appreciated all year round thanks to their superb vegetation, rich in indigenous plants and flowers which, with their array of colours and hues, create charming natural scenery in continuous transformation.
The rural architectural heritage that has marked the history of these places is not only interesting but in some cases also delightful to behold. This is certainly the case of the so-called “Paesi dipinti” (painted villages) such Arcumeggia, Marchirolo, Brunello, Dumenza (Runo), San Fermo di Varese and Induno Olona (a outlying ward of Olona) which have restored vitality to the area by integrating contemporary art, environment and nature in a harmonious whole.

All these elements, combined with a passion for local history and a deep love of the territory, have led to the enhancement of these small towns which, thanks to insightful and astute human intervention, continue to exist and to astonish all those who set out to explore them.
