The long and passionate history that links Varese to horse-riding was born 125 years ago when the first hippodrome was inaugurated in the Casbeno area. The current structure, called the Bettole hippodrome, began its activities in September 1911, continuing to this day with an interesting season of gallop races that fills the calendar both in Winter and in Summer months.

Not far from the city centre, the track is immersed in greenery and represents a pleasant oasis of tranquillity and enjoyment, with the stands becoming a traditional meeting place for enjoying the competitive show and exchanging gossip with friends and acquaintances.

Set against the background of the pre- Alps, the race course provides a restaurant, bar and a children’s playground, giving both the racing fans and their families and friends the opportunity to enjoy quality time together in an original way. An excellent occasion for Province visitors as well!

But the historical “Le Bettole” racecourse which annually hosts the racing season isn’t the only one in Varese. There are many other equestrian centres where the practice of horse-riding sports at various levels can be enjoyed.
