Over and above the sporting activities in which individual enthusiasts can engage, the Varese Province is able to offer professional or amateur sporting clubs customised accommodation for the pre-season preparation and for specialised training prior to competitive activities, together with the organisation of sporting events.

A week-long stay in a pleasant and welcoming location, equipped with optimal facilities and valid support on both the technical and human plane, can give your athletes the opportunity to prepare themselves tranquilly and enthusiastically for future challenges.

The following are some examples of the numerous initiatives hosted and organised each year in the territory, in collaboration with the Province of Varese:

Trofeo Garbosi

Easter week, Varese hosts a basket ball tournament reserved for teams of young girls and boys between 8 to 14 years of age, coming from various Italian and foreign cities. In 2005, 1350 athletes took part, making up 97 teams and playing in 215 matches.

Milan Junior Camp

During Summer, the Milan Junior Camp is held, consisting of a week of soccer courses aimed at boys between the ages of 8 and 14, that already practise this sport or that want to start, under the guidance of expert and specialised technical personnel.

Australian national team

On the occasion of the 2004 Olympic Games, the Province of Varese hosted the Australian national Athletics team for the preparatory and training stages. Following this positive experience, a document of intent was signed, allowing Australian athletes of all sports to train in the Varese for oncoming major competitive events, taking advantage of all sporting facilities, as well as of the accommodation and transport services.

Coupe Europèen de la Jeunesse

In 2007, this prestigious International rowing event, reserved for under-18 athletes, has been assigned to the Province of Varese. Over 500 young athletes coming from 15 European Countries will participate in the event.

World Cycling Championships

The Province of Varese has presented its application for the nomination to host the 2008/2010 cycling World Championships, thanks to its strong tradition in this sport, to its organisational and technical capacities and to the interesting opportunities in terms of racing courses offered by the territory.
