Regional Wines: fragrant and smooth

Some years ago, the production of wine using local grape varieties resumed, and these wines have been acknowledged with the I.G.T. "Ronchi Varesini" regional label. The designation comes from the characteristic farming on terraces (known as "ronchi"), which has been widespread throughout Varese Province, since the time of Carlo Borromeo, in the 16th century.

The wine companies

At present, the companies that sell wine products are: Cascina Piano, in Angera, Cascina Ronchetto, in Morazzone, Tenuta Tovaglieri, in Golasecca, the farm of Giovanni Malnati, in Masnago, and the "Vitivinicola Laghi d'Insubria" Farm.

The wines

San Quirico, Sebuino, Angliano, Pascale, Serpillo, Ticinum, Angleria, Brugus, Monte Tabor are excellent, fragrant and smooth, reds, rosés and whites. They are made particularly from nebbiolo and merlot grapes, but also from gamaret, pinot, chardonnay and malvasia.
