2012: European rowing championships in Varese

LOGISTICS FOR THE TEAMS Varese is just a few miles from major roads, motorways, railway lines and airports that guarantee easy transport links to the race venues, which will also be served by convenient shuttle services, so that every location can be reached quickly and easily.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION Hotel accommodation is excellent, with large, four-star hotels that can accommodate several teams. There are also residences with rooms with 2-4 beds, small kitchens, and the option of full board.

THE FINISH TOWER The finish tower, which is currently being built, will satisfy all the technical requirements for international rowing regattas. It will have three floors, each covering an area of about 55 m2, and each with a height of 3 m. The tower will house the management offices on the ground floor, the judges and the photo-finish equipment on the first floor, and the commentary and TV cameras on the second floor.

The planned location for the finish tower is Schiranna, on Lake Varese, on a moderately-sized manmade promontory, which stretches out for about ten metres towards the lake. This position provides an excellent view of the last 250 m of the course, and the area set up for the victory ceremonies.

It will be integrated with the construction of the municipal beach, where the complementary and support facilities will be housed.
