From Mesenzana to Grantola along the Margorabbia stream (An easy route, suitable for all)
The cycle path, between Valcuvia and the valleys of the Luino area, is accessible to all, even the least fit and experienced cyclists, and enables visitors to skirt the Margorabbia stream for a certain stretch, surrounded by green scenery.
The cycling and walking route that connects Mesenzana with Germignaga, crossing the Valtravaglia, is suitable for all cyclists, even the least experienced. The path is very well paved, completely closed to traffic (except for a few points where it crosses secondary roads with little traffic) and a constant gradient of 5.7%, making for totally safe, effortless riding.
The starting point is Malpensata, in the municipality of Mesenzana, which is provided with tables and benches. A short distance away one comes to the sport fishing lake in Cassano Valcuvia. From here, after a few crossroads, there is a particularly pleasant stretch that runs alongside the Margorabbia stream.
After crossing Brezzo di Bedero, the path comes to a sports ground and the park of Germignaga, then runs along a stretch of a Strà di caver, meaning "strada delle capre" or "goats' road", one of the mule tracks that the Association of the mountain municipalities of the Luino Valleys has recently redeveloped, opening the way to the rediscovery of local agricultural resources. Along these paths, in fact, which can be ridden on mountain bikes or on horseback, many agritourism establishments can be found, producing a number of well-known traditional local products, including formagella, a type of cheese from the Luino area.
The route ends in Germignaga, a few kilometres from the lively town of Luino, on Lake Maggiore.
