A passion with ancient origins

We have rowed on Lake Varese for over 5000 years. That's why we have such an innate passion for rowing; it is deeply rooted in our history and our land. The challenge of rowing began back in prehistoric times as a means of survival and has continued to evolve, over time, into a wonderful way to enjoy these calm, flat waters every day. Rowing was so popular that the Società Canottieri Varese (Varese Rowing Club) was established in 1927 and has continued to play a major role in life on these shores ever since. The year 1960 marked the foundation of another prestigious club that would have just as much success on the waters of Lake Varese - the "Canottieri Gavirate". Once again, groups of men and women managed to live thanks to the lake. And now the lake is also coming to life through rowing.
