Villa Bollani
A significant example of Liberty architecture in Varese, Villa Bollani was built between 1911 and 1914. The physical features of the mountain suggested the layout of the plan to the unknown architect who produced an arrangement of volumes characterised by a turret, which stresses the dynamic architectural composition. The decorations on the facades are particularly good quality. They were made by the famous plasterers Zanzi and Cagnola with relief patterns in line with the Liberty style. Relief chestnut leaf decorations decorate the open-work balustrades of the balconies, the top window frames, and the band that goes around the first floor. There is a strip of facade bricks, interrupted by the windows, decorating the top of the turret. An elegant wrought-iron gate, made by the blacksmith Parini, leads to the entrance, front left, which is preceded by an entrance hall marked by two larges arches decorated with fine mouldings.
