Peveranza (hamlet near Cairate)

Peveranza has been a part of Cairate since 1869. It was probably designed as a Lombard defence in the Olona Valley, on the "Pedemontana" route, just a few kilometres from the fortress of Castelseprio. In 2003, a group of local painters belonging to the association "La tavolozza" decided to create an artistic outdoor route along which the history and old working traditions of this small village were depicted on painted panels. What is unusual about this project is the location of these works of art, namely, on the walls of the buildings in which the work was actually done. The Casa della Nonna (Grandmother's house), a typical farmhouse from the 1800's that still exists, is home to a large ethnographic collection that brings back the flavour of the farming society.
