Views over the lake from Mount Grumello
Excursions on foot or by BMX bike on Mount Grumello provide superb panoramic views over the Italian section of Lake Lugano.
Mount Grumello, with its isolated position, offers a truly superb view over Lake Lugano.
A path, in part narrow and rocky, leads through virtually uncontaminated forests surrounding the villages of the Ceresio area, and brings you into an unusual habitat that includes the tunnels, trenches and fortifications of the Cadorna Line. The path winds up, almost entirely within the forest, to a height of six hundred metres, not far from the Italian-Swiss border.
The major section of the path, moving up the valley, is a mule track that runs through further sections of well-preserved military engineering. A final twist in the route leads through meadows and, in the summer season, natural carpets of wild garlic.
From here, the views over Lake Lugano are absolutely superb.
