The Ferrera waterfall (The Fermona waterfall)
This waterfall is in the municipal district of Ferrera, and it can be reached in just a few minutes by walking down from the road, towards the lake at the foot of the falls.
The Ferrera waterfall is known locally as the Fermona falls. The water drops for a vertical distance of about 30 metres, at a location just below the town. It is formed by the river Margorabbia, which cascades down into the Valtravaglia valley after having emerged from the caves of the Cunardo gorge. At the bottom of the falls, there is a small lake of crystal-clear water, and the whole landscape in the area is hallmarked by the peace and tranquillity of an uncontaminated habitat, even though it is just a few minutes from modern transport routes.
