The Biandronno Lake Nature Reserve
Lake Biandronno is set in a small basin of glacial origin, on the north-western side of Lake Varese from which it is separated by a narrow formation of limestone rock. The reserve has an area of 128.2 hectares, most of which is the property of the Province of Varese.
It represents a virtually unique example of a lake that has reached the last stage of its development, with the formation of reed beds and fens.
