The valleys of the Luino district

The valleys of the Luino district are in the northern part of the province, near the border with Switzerland. This sub-Alpine environment is one of the best conserved of all, with remote, isolated valleys and villages clinging apparently precariously to the mountain slopes. The common denominator of the whole area is the peace and tranquillity of these locations, and one village, Monteviasco, can be reached only by means of a cable car, or by climbing a steep path of rocky steps.
