Valcuvia and Valtravaglia
These two valleys represent the heart of the Varese district, and they are as if suspended between sky and lake. They are wide valleys, verdant and fresh habitats with a gentle climate and restful landscapes. They feature in books by writer Piero Chiara who set many of his novels in this area. For tourists, there are all sorts of small villages, and more famous places such as Arcumeggia, a town painted with murals, located where Valcuvia and Valtravaglia meet.
